    Hi!

We have had some issues with how our adoptable animals appear on our website. I was curious about how other shelters are posting their animals. What programs do you use?  Do you link to an external site? Is there a custom code involved in how your animals appear?

Our software for the shelter is ShelterBuddy, and so we currently have an iframe from adopt-a-pet embedded on our site that links to our ShelterBuddy account. We optimized for mobile since that is most of our traffic, but people still have issues.

I have researched what other shelters are doing on their site, but I do not know if it is specific to the software you are using or something else. I would love to hear from people using ShelterBuddy and those doing something completely different.

Thank you so much in advance!

We use Adopt a Pet to post our animals online, and under pet lists, at the top of the page, there is an HTML code that you can paste to your website with instructions.

We use our software system - Petstablished. It's an iframe, too, and smaller than I'd prefer, but we put a note at the top of the page to make sure to scroll through (since all don't show up at an initial glance).

We use Adopets to post our adoptables.  They have code to embed and then it links out for each animals profile.  They've been pretty responsive to us when we've had questions and suggestions as well.

We use the API provided by RescueGroups.org to list our animals directly on our site. I've also used PetFinder's API several years ago to do the same thing. It offers much better control in what information is displayed and how it is displayed allowing it to have the same look and feel as the rest of our website.

I would physically post animals on the website, but what gained far more traction was posting on adoption sites such as Adopt A Pet, Petfinder, Rescueme.org and Pet Curious. Also posting animals on FB and sharing to adoption groups, especially breed specific groups was very helpful

We currently are using PetFinder's embedded widget to display adoptable pets on our website. There is HTML code that you can paste into your website to embed it. It allows visitors to filter through pets and has worked well for us so far, however we will have to look into the options provided by Adopt a Pet and RescueGroups.org to see if one of them works better with our site.

We have found that Petfinder is a huge drive behind our adoptions. A large group of our adopters come from Petfinder. We use Wix as our website host and have it customized to add the animals manually. We had our website designer play around with automation and concluded that it just looks best for us if added manually. It's definitely a bit time-consuming, but well worth it. I know that ShelterLuv has a really great integration though that is visually very appealing.
