We've been wrestling with this one and curious how others are approaching it. Spay and neuter is never going to have the engaging drama of a rescue story or a crisis pull. There's no emotional before/after story, and no "we saved this dog from the brink" narrative. It's preventative. It's quiet.
At OC Animal Allies, this is at the core to who we are and what we do.
We've been experimenting with some potential solutions, including giving these procedures a personality instead of treating them as a clinical checkbox. We call it "The Fixed and the Fabulous," basically just letting each animal be a character with a story, rather than a stat. It's less "look what we accomplished" and more "look at this creature."
Would love to hear what's actually worked for other orgs here, especially anyone who's found a way to make the "boring but essential" prevention work feel as compelling as the crisis stuff.
