Hi everyone! I'm hoping there's a rescue out there with a similar structure who might be willing to offer some advice.
We're a nonprofit, foster-based rescue working with both cats (primarily small kittens) and dogs-some of our dogs are housed in a boarding facility. Over the past four years, we've grown quickly and made great progress, but we're starting to feel the challenges that come with that growth and want to do things the right way.
I'd love to connect with someone who's successfully scaled their program. Specifically, I'm curious about:
- How you grew your rescue sustainably while keeping volunteers healthy
- When and how you decided to bring on staff (we're currently all-volunteer)
- What your first staff roles were
- How involved your board is in day-to-day operations and overall vision
- How you manage the competing needs of both dogs and cats while keeping your organization consistent and mission-focused
