It feels like it's getting harder and harder to get local governments to understand, let alone convince them of, the major struggles local shelters face and the overhaul that's needed to fix it. Yesterday, the HASS Pilot Directors were tossing around ideas on how to best say, in a sentence or less, what we mean when sharing that it's our goal to create a new, future-proof animal welfare system actually built for us while addressing the major needs of pets AND people today. We want to be able to share that it's an issue with both a short and long game!
How would you tackle this challenge? Do you think phrasing like "community centered" or even "human animal support services" could be enough for the public and especially policy makers to understand what we're trying to achieve? Do we need a strong "model" description similar to "One Health or Housing First" to get buy-in sooner?
