Hi! My name is Justin Ruffier. I've been working with rescues for about 10 years and do TNR in San Diego. I've been researching cat counting methods and noticed there are very few resources and reporting methods for cities, counties, and states to aggregate community cat data.
I recently created the Whisker Tracker mobile app, which uses cat facial recognition to identify and count cats. It's designed to be a fun app for casual cat lovers and a helpful tool for the rescue community. One goal is to help count cats so we can better manage colonies and secure funding and resources for our outdoor kitties.
Does your rescue report community cat counts? Do you track a map of cat locations? What tracking resources (software, spreadsheets, notebook) do you use and who do you report data to? Let's chat about cat counting!
I'm currently building out Whisker Tracker to add a TNR Team component. If you're interested in helping us develop the software further, please let me know! whiskertrackers@gmail.com
