Hi Nichole! We are neighbors! I live in Clinton. I am so excited to meet you! Our website is still under construction (hopefully up by the end of the month), but we are on Facebook and Instagram (Down and Dirty Dogs, Inc.). Please come find us there. We have been posting but we haven't even made our official announcement post yet.
We just got our 501c3 approval two months ago so we are truly an emerging nonprofit. We are dog sport enthusiasts (agility, nosework, dock diving, obedience) who want to use our dog training and play experience to help our sheltered and fostered friends. Our ultimate goal is to have our own building dedicated to training, playgroups, and enrichment for sheltered dogs. Think doggie daycare for shelter/foster dogs!
I volunteer at YW and currently do the training where I can find space at the facility, but there just isn't enough space/equipment for our mission. As of right now we are developing a partnership with one for-profit doggie daycare. They have offered some space and a pool for occasional use and day trips.
Any advice/assistance is welcome! So glad I found this community.

Hi Amy, I just wanted to reach out and say hello because it looks like we are neighbors- I'm in Powell! I would love to learn more about what you're doing with your non-profit, do you have a website?

We are a very small, start-up 501c3 for training, play, and behavior assistance in East TN (Knoxville area). This list is very helpful for us to expand our ways of assisting the long-term residents. The biggest barrier so far for our mission is finding enough space in the shelter for specialized behavior assistance and play. We are exploring community partners to allow off-site indoor training. Thanks for posting this!
