At the last California for All Animals All Call of the year on December 3, we'll be talking with Jorge Delgado and Cel Jimenez from the Humane Society of Sonoma County. We hope you'll join the call at 12 p.m. PT to hear about their Community Action Team initiatives, including how they sustain their pet food pantry, engage human services agencies, and more!

Jorge and Cel will discuss strategies for building a sustainable pet food pantry and how to create support among food banks and pet food pantries to fight hunger in our communities. Pet food pantries are becoming part of animal shelter community programming to prevent animal surrenders and help people in need feed their pet companions. Although these pantries provide much-needed relief for the community, sustaining them long-term is challenging and stressful due to the lack of support from hunger relief organizations like food banks. It is time to raise awareness regarding pets' food insecurity and advocate for our pet's guardians in need.

    Hi,

I am the President of the Summit County Pet Food Pantry in Summit County, Colorado. I thoroughly enjoyed your excellent presentation on your pet food pantry in California and would love to steal some of your successful protocols and techniques. Something in which I was particularly interested was the Disclaimer you place on the re-bagged pet food. Would you be so kind as to publish or send me a copy of your disclaimer. It's a great idea. Our own local community human food bank advised we label  re-bagged pet food with the brand, type and ingredients for clients to view, but your disclaimer is a wise addition.

Thank you in advance for a copy of your disclaimer.

    Regards,

    Suzanne Ackley

    Hi, Suzanne,

Thanks for joining the All Call, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the presentation! We'll be sending out a recap and resources to all attendees in the next week or so, which will include the label that Jorge and Cel shared during the call. We'll also be posting resources at CaliforniaForAllAnimals.com.

I'll make sure to let everyone on the Pet Forum know when those materials are available. In the meantime, you can watch the recording (and check out more past calls) here: Cal4All Call Recordings - California for All Animals.
