The buzz is out about this fantastic presentation from KC Pet Project's own, Katie Grissum. Katie is not only a dedicated member of the HASS Marcom Working Group, but she's also a TikTok celebrity with over 1.8 MILLION followers.

To piggy back on this post and send it some deserved love, it's important to note that KC Pet Project Raised $10k From One TikTok Video.
That's  pretty incredible. It doesn't mean it's the norm, but it does mean it's possible.

I'm 38, I have no idea how to even log into tiktok, but this is absolutely a marketing avenue that cannot be ignored b/c some of us (me, lol) may be uncomfortable or write it off as an app "the kids use."

This is great content!!! I've been pondering the potential of TikTok for rescue work, but I've honestly been a tad intimidated by the process involved. I really appreciated the step by step walk through, and knowing that it is totally okay to start with simple, 15-second clips of something cute and work your way up to more storytelling. Thanks @Katie Grissum!

Yes! This presentation is so good. Thank you @Katie Grissum for sharing with us. Kasey and I are constantly referring people back to it. My favorite tip that Katie shared is to make a habit of recording all the time so can capture the best content and have ton to work with.

First, I have not watched the presentation yet, but do plan to soon!  I do see this post is several years old and I am curious... is the information still relevant?  Are there changes that I should be aware of ?  Are there other groups that have success using TikTok?

I'm super interested to do something with TikTok right away because I won a $2000 ads credit grant!  Woo-hoo!  It's a brand new profile though, I am new to making videos, and the credits expire July 31.  So... this is something I need to learn quickly in order to best utilize this opportunity.  Any suggestions?

If you haven't already found it, there is an awesome facebook group dedicated to animal shelter social media, that's literally the name of the group, and there are so many shelters there that share their ideas and processes for social media in general. If you are looking for more ideas, inspiration, guidance, tips and tricks, this is a great resource. And not to brag but my shelter, Nebraska Humane Society, also has quite a large social media following (174K on facebook, 45.9K on instagram, and 210.1K on tiktok) although it isn't the level of Katie Grissum, if anyone wants to check out our social media for ideas and inspiration.

@Laurel Wilton (She/Her)  Thank you for the recommendations.  I have followed your accounts.  Hopefully, I can come up with some ideas.  I do not qualify for the facebook group as I don't operate a shelter or rescue (we offer horse experiences and optional personal development activities for those who can not afford owning a horse).
