  • 1.  Implementing new shelter software - Documentation & Process Aids

    Posted yesterday

    Hello,

We are a small shelter in the process of implementing a new shelter software to replace the existing software.  The implementation and data conversion will be managed primarily by a group of volunteers (some of which do not have software implementation experience).   If anyone has experience implementing, please share documentation, tools and tips.

    TIA!

That would depend heavily on the systems you are moving from and to. We migrated a campus that became part of our shelter from a local installation of Volgistics (volunteer management) software to the instance that supported the other locations, managed by some staff and also volunteers. The "from" account was deleted to save money rather quickly, and we later found that some details had not been exported. So make sure you have verified that any legacy data you need is correctly in the new system before hastily deleting the old in a way that can't be recovered.
