  • 1.  Informal Poll! What's the primary way you have connected to new transport partners?

    Posted 07-23-2023 02:32 PM

In preparing for an upcoming Transport presentation I'm curious! For those that are transporting: What is the primary way you have connected with your transport partner(s) for the first time? (Please check your top 2, and list what 'other' is in the comments if you select that).
I would love your quick input- thank you!

    - Online Networking: social media post, closed FB groups, Maddie's Pet Forum
    - Networking in person: Conferences, summits, etc
    - A third party connected you
    - Cold call or email
    - Matchmaking tool: Doobert, BFAS Transport Connection Map
    - Other (would love to hear what that is)

‪Hi Claire.  Can't wait to hear your presentation at the conference and introduce you to members of our Arkansas Rescue Transport Coalition that are attending too!

    • Online Networking: social media post, closed FB groups, Maddie's Pet Forum
      • Our first destination partner was found on the FB Royal Canin Kitten Foster Group.  The cat coordinator was a member of the group too; our relationship started with sending 2 cats to Minnesota using a rescue relay group from Kansas City that the coordinator recommended.  We're sent cats now for over 2 years and CART is a monthly preferred provider now.
      • Other FB groups: Best Friends Network Partners, Rescues Across America for All Animals, and recently AmPA! HASS Shelter and Rescue Support.  We gained a few destination partners from a post by CART but several were by commenting on an existing post.  In fact - thank you Claire for your post a few months ago looking for a partner to take cats; Wright-Way in IL responded and I connected with them.  We've already sent 1 transport to them and are on their recurring list!  [This may seem like poaching but there are many times that the original poster will get replies from groups that are far outside their territory.  I've seen many instances where a post requesting rescues to take animals has resulted in 2 unrelated group members partnering up!]
      • Posts looking for destination partners - have gotten a partner or two.  It's all about the people that share the post.  I've also made requests for volunteer drivers to our target areas and had some people respond with connections there.
      • Posts on our transports - we continually post about our transports and tag our destination partners and our local Coalition members.  These get tagged and shared.  That has expanded our reach on Facebook.
    • Networking in person: Conferences, summits, etc
      • 2002 Best Friends Conference - I contacted several people from the conference.  I found some potential contacts and connections but none that turned into destination partners
      • Maddie's University Transport Course - found one destination partner - another participant
    • A third party connected you - only those that originated through an initial social media connection or post
    • Cold call or email  - only those that originated through an initial social media connection or post
    • Matchmaking tool: Doobert, BFAS Transport Connection Map - I did get some leads through these sources; I think possibly 1 partnership
    • Other (would love to hear what that is) - some word of mouth or recommendations from other potential partners.
