Animal data aggregators like Shelter Animals Count exist but there is very little comparison data about funding that I can find online for similar shelters. 

So, I put together an informal survey for folks to submit their budgeting/funding info to help others in the coming budget year. The purpose of the survey is to help shelters make the case with real comparison numbers when budgeting in the face of rising cost of living, increased demand,  increased cost for supplies, etc. Securing funding is always a challenge, having data to back up your applications never hurts.

Some time back, I published an article in Animal Sheltering on animal protection funding in the USA.  Most of the organizations covered were shelters or rescues.  There was a section of the article that dealt with the specifics of funding for six un-named shelters (data taken from the SAWA report on shelter finances - SAWA is now AAWA).    I have attached a copy of the article for your information.   There was, as far as I can remember, only one reader who contacted me for more information.   I was surprised at the apparent lack of interest in shelter funding and the state-by-state comparisons.
