Hello all, I am hearing so much about intakes on the rise, and in the case of county shelters this also means the dreaded word sometimes, Euthanasia.
I have been following our stats and these things appear to greatly affect our stats. We have a SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) that has
over the past 8 years brought our intake from almost 6,000 a month down to around 1,700. BUT, we are again seeing this rise to around 2,300 in the past year.
This program gives free vouchers to disabled, and limited income homes to help them get the pets spayed and neutered, thus cutting down our intake in an obvious way.
prevention.
Please share how you are dealing with this rising problem so we all can maybe take away one thing we can do in our shelters/rescues to implement new practices.
Thanks!
