  • 1.  Lowering shelter numbers

    Posted 10-12-2023 07:36 AM

Reunion Rescue has a plan to lower shelter numbers everywhere and would like to share our ideas and resources with the group.  Take a look at our newsletter archives where we share holistic resources to give the public healthy options to avoid relinquishment due to high vet estimates. The heart of our plan is to organize a torn-bag program with some of the newer high-quality pet food companies and trade for proof of spay/neuter. We are planning a test market region for other communities to follow. It's a win/win for everyone. The new pet food organizations will be able to advertise how they've lowered shelter numbers in the area and also enjoy new customers whose pets thrive from a good diet..healthy teeth and gums, shiny coats, increased energy, etc. And most importantly, shelters and rescues begin to witness less animals entering shelters. This plan is in its infancy, but would love to discuss with other like-minded groups who are seeking solutions to the huge numbers of companion pets in our cities' shelter system.
