  • 1.  Marketing shelter dogs after new Superman movie?

    Posted 07-16-2025 02:23 PM

    Hi All,

Have you seen the news that with the new Superman movie, searches for "rescue dogs" and "shelter dogs" have skyrocketed on Google - more here on that: https://www.thewrap.com/superman-2025-dog-adoptions-increase-krypto/

Is anyone trying to capitalize on this trend this week or next? I'd love to brainstorm! I haven't seen the movie, but it's great news to get people interested at least!

    Thanks!

Nice. This is the first I have heard about this.  I definitely need to look into this. So put caps on pups and call them Kryptonite? Need more coffee for creativity to kick in. Thank you for sharing this!

    Hey,

We aren't doing marketing shelter wise per say BUT a local movie theate/brew house (Flix) reached out to us to see if we would like to host an adoption event at the movie theatre opening weekend of the movie. We said sure not expecting much but hoping to work on a least a new partnership/sponsor. We hosted our event this past Saturday, we brought 4 dogs and all 4 were adopted :) :) :)

They also hosted I believe another shelter and a rescue on the day before and after us as well. I am unaware of how those groups did on adoptions.

    Good evening,

I have heard this news report numerous times today. I am slightly concerned but more optimistic. I am slightly concerned that dogs will be returned after the trend fades. I truly hope that is not the case. I am a big fan of Dave Potnoy, Barstool Sports President, who adopted a shelter pitbull, Miss Peaches, and a beagle named Petey. He also recently fostered another pit bull.  I hope the movie does help.  Eagerly following the news and updates. Sorry, that doesn't answer your question.

Our Communications team took some photos last week on a green screen and here are the results 🥰 We don't tend to see any returns due to "fad" trends and it usually helps bring awareness to dogs overlooked.
