In my last post about Haven, I mentioned how my personal dogs played a critical role in saving her. Today, I want to introduce you to the true backbone of our organization and share the origin story of our mission. Meet Boo, Harlow, and Kaos!
When peers in the industry ask how our small rescue has managed to maintain a great adoption success rate with high-needs German Shepherds this past year, the answer is simple: I don't do it alone. My resident pack does the heaviest lifting.
🌟 Boo (The Anchor & The Legacy):
Boo is the heart of everything we do and the inspiration behind our crew's name. He has an incredible, calm energy and an innate ability to read the body language of fearful, shut-down, or reactive incoming rescues. Boo patiently shows them the household routine, sets gentle boundaries, and teaches them that the world is a safe place.
🐕 Harlow (The First Rescue Turned Playmaker):
A little over a year ago, Harlow was one of my very first rescues. Originally a military guy's dog, she was bounced around until she ended up back at a breeder's, living in a cage. I paid out of pocket to get her out. When I picked her up, she was panicked and frenzied. But the moment I put her in the car with Boo, she immediately mirrored his balanced, calm comfort. Boo was so gentle and kind with her. Watching Boo heal Harlow was the exact moment I knew his legacy had to be helping other dogs overcome their trauma. Today, Harlow pays it forward as our social bridge, inviting nervous rescues to play and build confidence!
💖 Kaos (The Ultimate Survivor):
Kaos joined our crew just 2 months ago, but her journey has been a long road of survival. We took her in as a senior rescue after she spent her entire life as a breeding dog. Tragically, early in her rescue journey, we faced malicious third-party interference by a deceptive individual pretending to partner with us. This person withheld Kaos from our organization, resulting in severe medical neglect, starvation, and a traumatic environmental crisis that Kaos miraculously survived. When we finally got her back into our permanent care 2 months ago, she was so weak and emaciated that our veterinarian wouldn't even risk vaccinating her. But Kaos is a resilient fighter. Today, she has gained her weight back, her spirit is completely restored, and she is a happy girl. She serves as our living reminder to incoming rescues that no matter how deep the trauma, the right pack can heal anything.
Our In-Home Co-Therapy Model
By having our rescues live directly inside our home, Boo, Harlow, and Kaos act as full-time co-therapists. They teach these vulnerable dogs how to "just be dogs" again in a safe, controlled family environment. We are incredibly proud of the 10 lives Boo's Crew has saved so far, and we can't wait to scale our impact!

We are a 501(c)(3) pioneering a multi-tiered shelter-diversion model. We are actively seeking capital grant partners to match our upcoming 15-50 acre USDA rural sanctuary expansion, which will scale our intensive in-home rehabilitation and launch a public, donation-based trail system.
