  • 1.  Mobile Adoption Unit Cost?

    Hi everyone,

    I'm working on a grant proposal for a mobile adoption unit for our animal shelter, and I'm trying to get an idea of how much these units typically cost. We're looking for a fully functional adoption van/trailer(?) equipped with cages and necessary facilities. From what I've seen, estimates range from $100,000 to over $300,000, depending on the setup.

    If anyone has experience purchasing or operating a mobile adoption unit, could you share your insights? Specifically, I'm interested in:

    • Approximate cost of purchase and customization
    • Annual operating costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance)
    • Any additional expenses or things I should consider

    Would really appreciate any advice or details from those who've been through this process!

    I was recently at the meeting led by Maddie's for the Open Arms Challenge and one of the participants mentioned setting up a spay and neuter van. While you are looking for mobile adoption, some items might overlap, such as fuel, maintenance, and insurance. Here is her email, you can try to reach out to her.
