Maddie's Fund is an approved provider of training for the New York State Companion Animal Care Standards Act. Maddie's Fund offers free portals on Maddie's University with training. Managers of the portals can see who enrolls and completes and download a report to show compliance.

If you are interested in having a portal on Maddie's University, contact maddiesuniversity@maddiesfund.org.

    Hi Erika,

We currently have a portal set up for our rescue, however with the new regulations, would need to add courses. Are there courses that have been identified that we can add to stay in compliance?

    Thank you!

    Hi, Jillisa:

Yes, we have set up a curriculum to cover the NYS standards as efficiently as possible. Your portal is set up to cover the insurance requirements. There is some crossover, though. I'll email you separately about this.

    Hi Erika,

I am very happy to read this and thank Maddie's Fund for your support and resources. I just sent an email.

I am curious though- we are a cat only shelter and I have been trying to identify a cat focused set of trainings. Do you happen to have a possible curriculum appropriate for single species shelters or is your typical lineup multi-species?

    Thank you.

    Hi, Justin:

Certainly! I've confirmed that only species-specific training is required for volunteers/staff who do not work with other species. I'll reply via email with more information.
