Goldie, RIP 7-5-24
Mixed Maine Coon born into a Family of 7 Cats by a Ginger Mom
This cat was with me 24/7 for 13 years. We had incredibly hard times but for him it was like an
adventure that he always came through happier than ever. Although he lost a brother, towards the
end he found a girlfriend in a TNVR failure of mine. He took care of his brothers and sisters, along
with me, was the family groomer and was a mama's boy. Right before Cancer took him quickly, Goldie
had seen a Vet who thought it was dental and so did I because he and his brothers, labeled a Pride by
their Vet, played rough - biting and grooming while fighting.
The third biggest killer of cats, that is what the literature I read says. I've never seen any articles and the
ones I'm reading now are on Google Scholar. Goldie was the cat who went to the Vet more often than the
others because of minor issues he had his entire life. If I and the Vets missed it in him, how do I watch for
it in his remaining brother and two sisters? Any direction I can go to do research? That isn't generally a
question I need to ask but this disease appears to have poor research funding and little discussion.
I searched Oral Cancer in the forums and library here but can't find a match.
Thank you
