  • 1.  Organizations that help with cost of euthanasia

    Posted 10-01-2024 08:26 AM

Does anyone have any resources for organizations that help cover the cost of euthanasia for low-income pet owners? I am having a hard time finding anything... I have had someone contact me asking for help, and they do not want to get their pet euthanized at the shelter because they cannot be with them, which is understandable. I appreciate any information that I could pass on to them.

Just to add, the dog has cancer and the owner has become homeless and she can no longer afford the treatment or euthanasia and it sounds like the dog is suffering at this point :(

We have a program called Peaceful Paws that assists with end-of-life services. We'd be happy to connect if you are looking at program resources. For funding, we just have it built into our budget after an initial grant award. We cover the cost of a QOL exam, euthanasia and private cremation, if desired.

Thank you for replying. I am not looking to create a program, I am just looking for existing resources to pass along to this pet owner. Our organization only helps with the cost of rx medication and rx food, not any kind of medical procedures.

We have a program for our local community. We pay for euth and common cremation if a vet has recommended euth for medical reasons. We do not assist with behavioral euth. I'm not aware of any national programs for this need.

Pets for Life programs usually have that built into their budgets. But you'd need to share pet/owner general location if you want specific recommendations. Most programs like this are local, not national.
