  • 1.  Partnering with community sports teams

Hi Everyone! I am curious if any of you have ever partnered with a local sports team? I am brainstorming ways of getting youth involved in Rescue and also benefiting their clubs as well. I just cannot think of anything that would be equally beneficial for both?

    Thank you!

I haven't tried our local sport teams…if fact our community outreach is in its infancy, but you might contact your local Scouts - both girl and boy. They both require community projects for their Eagle or Gold Awards and each have animal care merit badges. You may get some projects completed or some student volunteers. If you don't have a area Scout headquarters near by, reach out to the churches who usually sponsor the Scout troops. Just a thought

Thanks Buck! That was actually on my to do list, first I need to find the troop leaders. Our youth involvement and community programs is also in its infancy. We are moving into a new to us building next year and are revamping our entire org so pretty exciting! Good luck on your outreach!

    Hello Jessica,

Just a little advice about reaching out to Girl Scouts. You should discover what region your local troop and leaders belong to. For example, where I am in Virginia Beach, VA our troops belong to the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast which serves all of southeast Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Depending where you are in Missouri, you could be in the region for Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland. Google is very helpful.

    For the animals,
