    Hi everyone,

I'm Michael Clarey, a board member with Hazel's House Animal Rescue and the creator of Pet Pantry Pro.

I developed Pet Pantry Pro after helping with our pet food bank and seeing how difficult it can be to manage everything through paper forms, spreadsheets, and shelter-management systems that were not really designed for pantry operations.

We needed something that could keep the entire process in one place without becoming complicated for staff or volunteers. Pet Pantry Pro currently helps animal food pantries manage:

    • Client and household records

    • Cats, dogs, and other animals in each household

    • Client check-ins and visit history

    • Assistance eligibility and waiting periods

    • Dry food, wet food, and litter distributions

    • Special-diet requirements and household notes

    • Duplicate client detection

    • Daily activity totals

    • Date-range reports and PDF exports

    • Data backups and recovery tools

One of the features I felt most strongly about was Volunteer Mode. Many pantry volunteers have different levels of comfort with technology, so Volunteer Mode removes the administrative tools and extra buttons. Volunteers see only the main options they need during an event, including Client Check-In, Add New Client, and Today's Activity.

We have already used Pet Pantry Pro during a live Hazel's House Animal Rescue food bank operation, and it handled our workflow smoothly. It was rewarding to see software built around our actual needs working during a real distribution.

I want to be fully transparent that this is software I created and intend to offer commercially. However, I am not here simply to advertise it. I would genuinely like feedback from other pantry operators because every organization handles intake, eligibility, distributions, and reporting a little differently.

I would especially be interested in hearing:

    • What are you currently using to manage your pantry?

    • What creates the most work for your staff or volunteers?

    • What reports do your board members, donors, or grant providers need?

    • How do you manage repeat clients and assistance limits?

    • What would a pantry-management system need before your organization would consider using it?

Pet Pantry Pro is being built specifically for animal food pantries, with practical pricing and nonprofit budgets in mind. The Windows desktop platform is available, and an iOS version is also in development.

All screenshots on the website use test accounts and sample information. They do not contain real client, household, or pantry data.

I appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or lessons learned from organizations already operating pet food pantries.
