Hello All,
I've been following Maddie's for some time, but never posted.
I have over 30 years experience with Akitas, "aggressive breeds" GSD, Pittie & hard to handle dogs. I've been employed with shelters as a kennel tech and a Behaviorist.
I recently received my Certification in Animal Behavior & Training and looking forward to earning my KA (300 hours of work).
I recently obtained my Tradename and starting a business called START: Surrender & Rescue Training. My plan is to offer behavior and training to people thinking of surrendering their dog to keep the dog in their home. I also offer post adoption training & behavior with my rescue South West Akita Tactical Rescue (SWAT) and will begin offering to all breeds in the State of Arizona with the anticipation of traveling.
My local shelter expressed a need for these services but I'm not sure where to begin. I'm pretty certain to obtain a County contract, there's some other requirements and I'll research. I have other experienced trainers that I would like to eventually bring onboard.
In the mean time, do you think my program is a good START?
What rate do you think is reasonable?
What suggestions can you provide me to START this program off with a bang in January?
Much appreciated,
Kristen
