    As of 3/6, Facebook Community Standard Restrictions on Goods and Services (specifically on live animals) is tightening up on rehoming groups. 

    I manage the Austin Pets Alive Positive Alternative to Shelter Surrender (PASS) Program which heavily relies on supported self rehoming as a resource for mitigating the crippling surrendering crisis in our shelters/rescues across the state of Texas. 

    With 45k members from across the state either requesting help with rehoming their pets or members looking for pets, this 8 year old group is on mandated post approval restrictions until 3/13.  If violations continue to be reported/flagged, the group is at risk for being removed entirely.  

    In an effort to prevent the group's forced removal from Facebook, myself and the fellow 5 admins of the group are desperately working on more strictly enforcing the following:

    • Cracking down on posts/comments that violate the posted rules:
    • Updating the Admin Assistant automations to flag keywords such as breeding, getting rid of, selling, etc.
    • Removing banning judgemental, bullying, off topic comments 
    • Advising members of the community to REPORT TO ADMINS instead of REPORT TO FACEBOOK, when posts/comments violate the posted group rules
