  • 1.  Recommendations for an website designer?

    Posted 11-16-2020 01:39 PM
My organization is a small one with a limited budget. We are looking into redoing our website to make it more secure and mobile friendly, and would appreciate any recommendations for web designers or developers that you've had a positive experience with!

    Thanks!

I don't know about security issues you might be having, but if you're looking for a free and easy way to control your own content, I would recommend Weebly.  We use it for our shelter (chicoanimalshelter.org) and it's easy to use and easy to keep updated.  The only thing we pay for is the domain name.  No need to pay a designer or for every change you make.

Wix is a very user friendly web building tool.  It walks you through each page.

Hi! I just hired a website designer on the Upwork website. On Upwork there are many freelance techies who charge various prices for their work. Some are as low as $10/ hour; you can negotiate a flat fee, too. I/we  use WordPress which is easy, in my opinion, to use. I have my site hosted on GreenGeeks because they are carbon neutral.

You can view my website to see my techies work. I have 2 techies ( one is an SEO content writer), and both have experience fostering. My site was created to recruit Fosters for our local shelter ( Memphis). I've used Upwork a lot to hire techies. If you want more info., please let me know. Cheers,

I've found hiring a freelance designer can really bring some unique ideas to the table, especially when using WordPress and eco-friendly hosting like GreenGeeks.

I've had great results with https://redeagle.tech/services/web-design for my small business website. Their fixed pricing means no surprises, and I love how they've made my site mobile-responsive and SEO-optimized. Plus, owning all aspects of it with no lock-in contracts is a bonus. Give them a look if you're considering a professional touch for your site.

    1) Reach out to your local college(s) to see if they have any upcoming classes for their graphics/interactive design majors to use your site as an example.  When my wife went for her degree, at least one local organization was included in the mockups/designs they had to create.

    2) Check in with your volunteers to see if any of them have the experience to do this project for you (My wife and I just launched our organizations new website this weekend)

    3) Check with your local community, there's likely someone out there that is wanting to start out and needs a site for their portfolio.

    4) Look into wix.com - They have an AI tool built into their platform now that their subscription includes that will allow you to get the basics going.  If you go that route, be sure to get that discount - https://support.wix.com/en/article/premium-plan-discount-for-charities-or-non-profit-organizations
