Reddit and Threads

Has anyone had any luck going viral on Threads or had a lot of engagement on Reddit?

We do the usual Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, but I'm trying to tap into Threads and Reddit, which I think are resources that could be used more.

Reddit is huge for marketing. I'd recommend posting in r/animalshelterstories, and other dog or cat related subs depending on your rescue.

Haven't had much luck on threads. Reddit definitely can be helpful though for advice or getting eyes on a pet.

r/animalshelterstories isn't really for advertising adoptables. It's more for discussing shelter issues and commiserating with other shelter/rescue employees and volunteers. Animal advertising and fundraising pleas don't generally go over well in that sub. I'd recommend something more like your local(ish) subreddit, r/pets, r/rescuedogs, r/dogs, r/cats, r/rescuecats, r/pets, breed-specific subs, etc., as those audiences are more pet owners than those involved in sheltering. But whatever you do don't label obvious bully breeds as "lab mixes" or something like that. People will jump all over you for that.

I post pics like this and just repost the caption as the title. I probably should do better but it is getting us traffic.

Adding a little more flair to the picture you posted could definitely help boost engagement. I'd recommend Canva or another platform where you can make your own reusable templates.
