We are looking for ways to reduce litter when feeding community cats. Currently, tin, plastic, and paper are used, and not many feeders stick around or go back after a feeding to clean up. One rescue I know partners with a box chain to get old tortillas to feed on. What are your thoughts?

I've used corn tortillas which can be bought in packs of 50 in most grocery stores... even after the cats eat up all the food, the raccoons and opossums come and clean up the corn tortillas.

Flour is not as good or desirable as corn and can get mushy in the rain.

You can also feed simply on the ground -- ideally a missy area or concrete--cats can handle it.

They've eaten prey off the ground for centuries!

Why not just put the food on the ground? Cats don't need plates!
