    Good afternoon ,

My rescue opened a year ago. Our mission is to save dogs from being euthanized for space. Through our efforts we have saved over 100 dogs. Unfortunately, many dogs were either returned or foster/adopters backed out one way or another. Therefore, we now personally have 44 dogs in our rescue that are directly in our care of just two of us. We need rescue relief either through fosters or transferring the pups to other rescues. They are all fully vetted and we have paid the costs for everything. We need help or we may have to send pups back to shelters.

    Hi Michelle,
I am so sorry you are having a difficult time finding forever homes.  You are not alone; we are in a similar situation.   We are full - no available kennel space- yet we took in one on Saturday after being called to a scene of a hit-and-run.  A sweet pitty boy was standing guard over his deceased friend, we did not have the heart to leave him on the road.

We are considering a few options, including hosting an adoption event at Tractor Supply.   We have been working on the plan for a foster club. This club would, of course, include fostering one of our amazing dogs, a free t-shirt, a monthly gift card to our local coffee shop, or my daughter-in-law has offered to make cupcakes once a month. Maybe to include a monthly gathering at the local park.     Our issue with the foster club is time and volunteers.
Of course, the magic is finding rescues that transport.  I looked at your Facebook page; your residents look much like ours- pitty mixes or medium-sized black dogs, the hardest to find homes for.   Maybe we should start a marketing campaign for black dogs...
Please know we understand how desperate you feel when all you are trying to do is the right thing. Hang in there.

Fosters need education and training and daily contact from the rescue in the first few days to problem solve.  They need access to resources and guides and humans who will give them practical solutions.  They need to be educated about so many aspects of care.  There is a plethora of youtubes and guides if you google  dog fostering.  I have set up four foster 101 workshops in Los Angeles and had a panel with rescue folks, dog trainers and shelter volunteers.  Nearly every dog is going to be problematic coming out of a shelter environment and to throw these dogs into a home without guiding the fosters is a setup for failure
