    What local resources can you list? Some of ours are different local rescues, veterinarians that are good with ferals, possible fosters, adoption agencies, Facebook rescue sites. low-cost spay\neuter clinics....We try never to send a "customer" off without giving VERY POSSIBLE options. It feels so good when they respond with gratitude!

    There is something profound in the words about "Sending love to everyone on this journey". If your focus is understanding and loving a broader circle around the animals, the words we speak resonate with our acceptance and lack of judgment. Instead, focus on solving the person's dilemma. After the relatively few years i have been rescuing I found the RESOURCES I have learned about and developed connections to, are the tools of my trade. 

    GCCCP has set up boundaries for our work so there are times we can't help directly, But by collecting local resources and strong relationships with resources we are able to give direction to anyone asking for help. It takes time to develop respect among the other resources and rescue, but this comes back to focusing on understanding and loving a broader circle around the animals, which includes the whole community and all its segments involved with our animals.

    Hi Donna,

    We have a small network of resources, local businesses like our local tractor supply, Lowes, Walmart, veterinarians, local police, and sheriff's office.  We also network with the local homeless shelter and food bank.  

    Our biggest issues are low adoption rates and a lack of rescues accepting new dogs or puppies.

    Hi Connie. Adoptions. That is a good subtitle under resources. What are the resources you need to help with adoptions?

    I have to say my impulsive discission to communicate with the community has really paid off. I have a newsletter, I use nextdoor.com, Facebook, and a website to share stories with our community. When I have adoptions, I post them "Be a part of the rescue". Or I  have stories about adopting out cats\kitten  and stories and pictures sent in from adopters I share them with the community. It seems that if you make a connection, the community actually comes to you when they want to adopt. When they see your post, they trust you.

    Here's another resource. I was introduced to the availability partnerships with Petco and PetSmart for "suites". I use PetSmart. I don't know what they have for dogs but it works great for cats. PetSmart has weekend adoption events too.

    Petco has a adoptapet.com you can use.

    Another resource is to post at locations like veterinarian offices or pet stores.

    Nextdoor.com, or local communication media is wonderful.
