  • 1.  Screen recorder software for capturing workflow and training new volunteers

    Posted 10 days ago

Does anyone have experience with a free, easy-to-use screen recorder software that could be used to record a workflow and then shared with others?  For example, someone could record the process for entering an animal into the database, or the process for adding something to our website.

I'd like it to be very easy to use and would love to get suggestions before I dive in!

    Thank you!

I have used Loom and we love it.   https://trainual.com/ is a new service that looks really cool and I haven't checked it out yet.  If you are a client of Belay Solutions you can get access to 3 users for free.

I'll second using Loom. In my biz, that's how we capture our screen to crate Standard Operating Procedures. Zoom works as well, although Loom is easier to share.

We've used ScreenRec and it works well. We use the free version.

Scribe! It has been super useful for creating step by step processes. It auto writes out the steps for you based on what you do on the screen- but they are easily editable if the autocapture gets it wrong. I love Scribe!

I've heard great things about Scribe. Tango is another option.

They are also consultant she can hire that will map out all of your processes and create your policies and procedures. The one I know uses Tango. She also does board manuals, employee, handbook, etc.  So if you need a whole bunch done and have some money, that's another option. I'm happy to share the info the person I know if anyone's interested.

    Hi Anne!

One totally free option that is part of the Windows package is the Windows Game Bar. This should be pre-installed and you can press some hotkeys to either open the toolbar or start and stop recording. It's great because it's free and basic. The main drawback is that it will only record one Window at a time, so for example if you start in PetPoint and then switch to Excel, you'll need to start a new recording.

Some staff at our company have tried Loom and I know we're considering Scribe, mainly for PetPoint tutorials. Scribe has limited free trials before it will recognize your company domain and require you to pay.

Good luck! Let us know what you try and what you think.
