I manage a municipal animal shelter that is stuck in a 1950s 'dog pound' style building. We are trying to look into building a new shelter but original plans were WAY out of our budget. We are looking into a smaller size plan where we retrofit old buildings and only construct dog kennels new. Our county commissioners are wanting an estimate to see how to move forward. The tricky part is that I can't get an estimate until we move forward with hiring an assessment, so I'm stuck! Can anyone share their experience with how much per square foot dog kennel construction cost them? We are looking into using Shelter Planners of America, so if anyone has estimates for their type of project, that would be a bonus! Would also love any feedback on them as well!
