Hello everyone! 

I am trying to start fresh in a small town, to bring back some organization to the dogs that seem to be running out and about, owners not understanding that for the safety of their pet, that maintaining control is crucial. Neighbors having problems with defecation in their yards, digging up their flower beds, general safety and injuries to the pets as well as others. 

I am seeking information or help with getting enough funds and resources to have the basics. 

Fundraising is always an option, but the economy is not very easy to navigate around. We are in a town of less than 1,000 people and microchipping is something we can look at as well since we are more rural. That is costly, but I have heard of positive results, especially when a collar is removed or missing. 

Any advice for renewing an old system? What works best for the basics?

I've watched and completed all of the Maddie's university courses and learned a lot about tools, techniques and safety. 

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

I am President of PAWSitive Pantry in Vermont/MA and we often times get donations of dog collars etc from retailers.  So checking in with local retailers is great.  Local Walmart Foundation grants are excellent as they are locally based and love to support small groups- you just need to talk with the manager.  Microchipping is really helpful for sure and should be incorporated in with any rabies vaccination clinics that the community provides(if they do that) or offer some sort of partnership with the local clinics(private or no profit).   Also, if you there is a humane society nearby and they aren't microchipping help to fundraise for their organization to fund microchipping for all adopted animals.  I think this has made a huge difference in MA with Return to Owner programs.
