We are looking to purchase SWAG for events.  What does your shelter/rescue give away?  We wanted to do something different.

    Thanks,

Hi Amber, it has been my experience that people will take literally anything that's free; that being said, maybe take a look at the promotional products section of VistaPrint, some of the unique things they have are little bags of snacks and candy.

I'm a can coozie hoarder, so I'll always snag a neat one when I see one, but I feel like the average person probably has way too many already since that seems like the go-to swag for most places. I'll also always pick up free sunglasses, fun stickers, and those silicone reusable can lids.

Aside from what you guys advise to give away, how do you budget/fund these items?

Thank you in advance for any responses!

@Yaned Rodriguez (She/Her) For the first few years we didn't have a budget for swag items. We relied on local makers and printers who were willing to donate. Later we set asides funds from our tshirt and calendar fundraisers to purchase our giveaway items.

OpenTip is another good resource for customized swag. We have used stickers, temporary tattoos, pens, sunglasses, and things of that nature as swag.

$Imprint gives away $500 merch grant for any non profit that asks. Its a good way to get your logo on things. We used it for cups/bags. We filled the cups with bagged dog treats or candy (human). In addition,  we always have a freebie table. It usually consists of poop bags, tennis balls, dogs/cat treats, toys etc.  Nylabone sent us 500 chew toys!

I have contacted them before and got no response. Did you email them? If so, do you happen to remember the email address you used?

We use a variety of swag items and are always looking for new ideas. One of our most popular is our wristbands we purchased from customlanyard.net they are very inexpensive.  We did a fun contest with two of our most popular animals, Yeesaw a donkey and George a Sulcata tortoise including our name's acronym. We had wristbands printed with "Yeesaw's FANS club" and "George's FANS club.  We have also purchased items like coffee mugs, key chains, golf towels for our golf outing, and decals. We've had local makers create and donate key chains and popsockets.  We received a donation of small refillable bottles for handsanitizers. We filled them with sanitizer and put our decal on the bottles.  If you know of any local print company or individual maker, it doesn't hurt to ask if they will donate. We offer to promote the companies who donate on our social media and list them as community sponsors on our website.
