Hello,
We run a monthly TNRM clinic and started in 2008. We currently give each cat the following:
- Spay/Neuter
- Ear Tip
- Tattoo
- Clean Ears-treat for mites with ivermectin if needed
- Give a Penicillin Shot before surgery
- Give gabapentin rectally before surgery
- Lidocaine injection at surgical site during surgery
- FVRCP
- One year Rabies
- Post surgery gabapentin rectally if kitten
- Post surgery Meloxicam injection if adult
- Flea Treatment Revolution/Frontline
Can anyone else update their protocols on what their community cats receive in their TNRM program?
We have read penicillin is obsolete, but our vet says it does help with cats that have severe dermatitis from fleas, lice or mange? Do you give B12 shots prophylactically?
What else can we offer the cats? I would love to be able to afford topical de wormer but do not know of a cost prohibitive option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
