  • 1.  Unhoused neighbors and their dogs

Hello! I work with HEAL Omaha, a street medicine outreach that provides care to our unhoused neighbors. We recently had 7 folks added to our efforts who are in need of vet care for their dogs in order to obtain permanent housing. My question is, has anyone ever been involved in this line of work and had to navigate services for unhoused dogs? These dogs do not need to be rehomed and are not in animal shelters; the goal is to keep them with their humans and provide their humans with resources for ongoing vet care (think, Street Dog Coalition).

    Thanks!

    Hi Leah,

I'm the Helpline Coordinator for a large shelter with a municipal contract. Our Community Solutions Department focuses on community support and pet retention and that is where my job is based. I work with homeless individuals daily on getting pet food, spay/neuter, assistance with vet car, behavior support and more.  What kind of questions do you have? What kind of services are you trying to provide?
