  • 1.  Webinar on adopting out difficult animals

    Posted 06-01-2023 10:52 PM

Sometime in the last couple years, I attended a webinar given by someone who works in the NY Shelter system (at least that is what I remember, lol). I have no idea if it was here (but that is very possible) or elsewhere.  The premise was the we have run out of unicorn adopters and that many of the animals we say cannot be around other animals actually really can if we approach it correctly. The person who gave it was a woman who'd tested out her theory and had proven that many dogs that were said to not work with cats (or dogs) actually did work fine.

If anyone remembers this, please let me know what you know about it. I would greatly appreciate it. I would love a copy of the slides. THANK YOU!

Ann, I can't remember that specific webinar but this blog post "No pets, no kids, no problem! Why your harder-to-place pets don't need to languish in the shelter" may help. It includes data from @Kelly Duer and Kristen Auerbach's study of behavioral foster care in Fairfax, VA.

Sadly, not. But, thank you for looking - that was very kind of you.
