    Hi everyone and Happy Friday!

California for All Animals just kicked off a statewide More Pets and People Together campaign in anticipation of our upcoming grant cycle opening on September 15. We have lots of fun events and resources available to support CA organizations' efforts to keep and bring pets and people together so that animals spend more nights at home, not in shelters. Here are a few of the things you'll find on our website:

    • Four-session roundtable series starting August 17, featuring collaborative approaches and creative solutions from panelists across the state and the country (Everyone is welcome to register-you don't have to live in California!)

    • Calls to action to share with stakeholders

    • Art contest: Artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to enter to win a $5k grant for their shelter by reflecting on what animal companionship means to them and to their community via pencil, crayon, brush, or digital drawing tool.

    • Free communications kit with posters, buttons, stickers and contest flyers to share inside the shelter and out-supplies are limited, so request yours today!

We'll be adding more grant-related info in the next few weeks, and you can sign up for our newsletter if you'd like to receive updates.

We are inspired by the work everyone is doing in their communities to break down barriers, and we hope this campaign and upcoming funding opportunity will offer additional support and inspiration to you too. Please share this page with your California colleagues! www.californiaforallanimals.com/together

This is wonderful, Elise, thank you! We are not a shelter, we are a small funding organization and our main focus is on keeping pets and their people together.  We raise money to help shelters do this.  Do you think this campaign would be beneficial to us or is it really geared towards shelters and rescues?

    Thank you,

    Hi, Johanna,

How beautiful your organization was founded in honor of your daughter--I love your mission! Organizations like yours are crucial to helping pets stay with their people instead of entering shelters unnecessarily, and this campaign is all about how it takes all of us (shelters, animal care and foster-based organizations, human services agencies, and individuals) to help pets and people thrive together in our communities. While the grant opportunity associated with this campaign is for California only, you're more than welcome to check out the Roundtable series, which is open to everyone, or even share these calls to action through your fund and in your community.

Soon we'll also be adding a social media toolkit to this page, which you could adapt and share on your own social media pages to encourage people to support you, your local shelter and other organizations in your community working to keep pets and people together.

Thanks for all you do, Johanna!

Thank you for these resources! I will check them out; and just to clarify, we are a California organization, located in the Central Valley (Lemoore).

Got it--thanks for clarifying, Johanna! For some reason, I was thinking Oregon. Glad to know California can claim you. 🙂

Thank you Elise! I work for a wonderful, fairly large cat rescue/adoption/medical facility in North Hollywood, CA. A few years ago, we opened a clinic for both cats and dogs in nearby Chatsworth CA.  I am also a proud pet owner of three beautiful cats, Ziggy, Zappa and Ursula - all 15 years old now (all pulled from South LA Shelter). As my cats have gotten older, the medical expenses have really skyrocketed. I always wonder why medical expenses for animals are not tax deductible? How to make that happen? Certainly, this would be so helpful to many of us who are doing everything to care for our animals.

I just subscribed to your newsletter. Thanks for everything you are doing for animals.

What a stunning trio,  Suzanne! I have two tuxedo cats, so I have to say I'm partial. 🙂 Thank you for signing up for the Cal for All newsletter and for your work on behalf of pets and people in SoCal!

    Hi Elise,

Thank you so much for letting us know about these opportunities. I am on the Board of Directors for a California-based organization that is very similar to Johanna Spielman's. (Thank you Johanna for your question!) I am excited to see all the resources and grant opportunities that will be provided.

    Much appreciation,

Yes, we hope the shareable calls to action, social media kit and roundtables will be helpful to everyone! We will be posting more guidelines for our upcoming grant cycle soon. In the meantime, you can read more about grant eligibility and partnering with your local animal shelter or animal control agency here : https://www.californiaforallanimals.com/get-involved/supporting-organizations/
