When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, animal sheltering transformed overnight. Foster-based sheltering, home-based employees and volunteers, along with collaboration galvanized our communities.
The pandemic, along with social injustice, has motivated our industry to take a look at how we partner with our communities and confront our own biases. Shelter and rescue organizations across the country began talking on a weekly basis, offering support and innovative ideas to do things differently.
Maddie’s Fund hosts an hour-long Zoom call twice a week. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it’s grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.
In an effort to create a more inclusive and collaborative space, as of June 27, 2022 the existing Monday and Friday calls will be combined. Please remove any remaining Monday and Friday calls from your calendar, as the links are no longer active.
Our new combined Weekly Community Conversations will begin on July 18, 2022 after a small summer break! The new day and time for these calls will be reoccurring on Mondays at 11am PT (2pm ET).
