Community Conversations

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, animal sheltering transformed overnight. Foster-based sheltering, home-based employees and volunteers, along with collaboration galvanized our communities.

The pandemic, along with social injustice, has motivated our industry to take a look at how we partner with our communities and confront our own biases. Shelter and rescue organizations across the country began talking on a weekly basis, offering support and innovative ideas to do things differently.

Maddie’s Fund hosts an hour-long Zoom call once a week on Mondays at 11am PT/2pm ET open to all those who work in animal welfare. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it’s grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.

Win Ca$h for Attending Our Weekly Calls

We’ve heard that these calls have been invaluable to so many of you. And, they’re about to get even better! Each month, Maddie's Fund will be giving away up to $10,000 in grants. You can enter to win each time you attend a call or watch it on demand during the month by completing the giveaway drawing entry forms that will be shared in the chat during the calls.

Starting July 18, 2022 we will be combining the previously separate calls into ONE weekly Community Conversation. Please use the link below to register for the new national call happening on Mondays at 11am PT/2pm ET

(You only need to register once to attend each recurring meeting.)

Return to this page at any time to see the chat files, presentation slides and other resources that were shared during the call. Because the learning and implementation doesn't end when the call does, we encourage you to use the forum to continue the discussion that was started during the call.

Discussion Threads and Past Recordings For Each Call

Starting June 1, 2021 there will be a discussion thread posted to the Animal Welfare Professionals & Volunteers Community here on Maddie's Pet Forum. Each discussion thread will include the meeting agenda and after the call, the thread will be updated with the presentation(s) shared during the meeting, the chat file and a video recording so you can watch at your own pace. Speakers/presenters will be monitoring the post in order to provide additional information or answer any questions you may have.
