Hello! New cat mom here. I adopted my cat Olivia (1 yo) from a local shelter about 2 months ago. Time has passed and she still hides from me when I’m in the room. She refuses to let me or anyone else pet her (hissing). She won’t even eat in front of me. I can hear her playing in her room at night. But the moment I open the door she’s back under the couch. She will withhold from eating, using the litter box, etc until I give her alone time. I’ve had the feliway plug in installed for a couple weeks. I’ve seen no changes. I’ve tried everything from pheromone sprays to catnip to special treats with no difference in behavior. Should I be concerned? Does she hate me? Is it best for me to give her back? Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do?
