Looking for advice on developing program to permanently place and/or establish foster program for felines in senior living facilities. I have received pushback from a facility that had wanted to participate until the staff found out and complained that they have cat allergies. They already have a dog on site permanently.

What a bummer. You can't really avoid allergies if someone has them, but maybe suggest keeping the cat on one specific floor or in a specific area that those who have them can avoid.

We don't have a program, but recently placed a cat in an assisted living facility... one thing that was new was dealing with the rules around it! For example, the adopter needed all his medical papers (rabies vaccine especially) filed with and approved by the State before the cat could go home. Usually we send that information home at the adoption appointment.

The home we placed a cat in was also a small facility (less than 10 residents), which meant less staff and less people to "convince" about getting a cat. I imagine the bigger places are better known/easier to find, but maybe smaller facilities would be more open to it?
