I wrote this guide as an education piece for cat owners. It is designed to get them thinking and planning for the event they should be unable to care for their cats due to illness or even death. It deals with how to arrange emergency foster care for cats during the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes a planning guide, a care guide for cat owners to complete and an emergency foster care guide in case the foster person has little to no cat experience.

This guide is being released under a Creative Commons license so if you feel this is of value to your rescue and your community you can rebrand it and publish it as your own. The only stipulation is I be given credit for the original work. Also I consulted with Toronto Public Health in Toronto, Canada an how to proceed with a COVID-19 situation. If you do intend to publish it with your rescue's branding you need to review handling a COVID-19 situation with your own local public health officials.

We are a cat rescue so this guide only deals with cat rescue. If someone has expertise in emergency foster care for dogs I think it would be a valuable piece to add.
