Cats with kidney or bladder issues should be drinking more water, but cats being cats won't be told what to do...  So, does anyone out there have some good ideas on how to trick a cat into drinking more water?

When we had a cat in with bladder issues that needed more water we mixed canned food with water and made it basically soupy.  She would scarf down multiple cans a day.  This replaced dry food and she definitely increased her water intake as she licked the bowl clean every time.  

Try getting a fountain, turning on the tap or even pouring water slowly into a bowl; some cats prefer drinking water that's moving. One of my cats who has cystitis hates to drink standing water but will drink forever from the tap. 

My cat gets wet food from a small can or pouch twice a day. After emptying the food to the bowl, I add water to the can/pouch, stirring to get the last bits, and add that water to bowl, mixing it in with the food. It gives the kitty a little more hydration and helps clean the cans before recycling.
