What are other shelters policies on adopting out sibling dogs or a mother and her pups to the same home?

I've heard sibling kittens, GOOD; sibling puppies, BAD! I had a friend whose sibling puppies fought with each other all their lives.

But my mom's siblings dogs were BFFs for 15 years  and my friend's sibling dogs are still very close at 6 years old  I don't think there's a "hard and fast rule" on this.

As a foster, I do think 2 puppies are a lot more work than 1 puppy! While 2 kittens are about the same amount of work or less work than 1 kitten.

We encourage adopting in pairs! We have not had any bad experiences that we have been made aware of! Out of personal experience, my brother had two siblings that lived happy together for 15 years.  They passed away almost one month apart!  I guess it depends on the pet!

If you have two strong siblings, there maybe problems. It’s probably best to have one female and one male.
