    Hi, everyone!

A lot of potential adopters in our area have unsterilized pets. Typically, we have convinced people to have their pets fixed once they realize there is a low-cost option. However, there are people that refuse and that's fine. I'm more concerned with the people we adopt to because my gut says I should trust that they will fix their pet as they have told me. Is it legal to add an addendum to the contract that states they agree to s/n their pet by a specific date? Trust me, I value education above a forceful hand. I'm just exploring other options. Thank you!

Are all of the pets you adopt from your facility already sterilized? Would the addendum to the contract be for the pet they adopted, or the other pet they have in the home?

Legal would be different in every area. My local shelters don't adopt out any prior to s/n surgery. They found follow up on promises too complicated.
