  • 1.  Can we use Shelter Animals Count Animal Data Matrix to apply for a Maddie's Fund grant?

    Posted 09-14-2017 11:44 AM

Our shelter got introduced to the "Shelter animals count/Basic animal data matrix through our Tn. "Best Friends" state rep. When our director applies for a Maddies Fund  grant the form that was used was the 'Asilomar accords'. These two forms are very very similar but since we are used to using the 'Shelter animals count' we  learned about through "Best Friends" we would like to stay with it.The main reason is that the save rate is broken down into kittens, cats.puppies and dogs. This helps us in that we are trying to get the save rate up on the kittens and cats and the only way of knowing for sure is to keep the stats. broken down.We added another calculation at the bottom of the spreadsheet to readily see our progress. Our director advises me that she does not have enough time to do two forms. My question is: Can we still use the "Shelter Animals count/basic Animal Data matrix" and apply for a Maddies Fund grant..........Wayman Skelton  Board member  Morristown Hamblen Humane Society,

Hi Wayman!  I'm the Senior Grants Specialist here at Maddie's Fund, happy to answer this for you.  We used to ask for the Asilomar Accords reporting form, but with the creation of Shelter Animals Count, we are now asking for the Basic Data Matrix.  So you're one step ahead!  You can read all about why we ask for the Basic Data Matrix and what numbers/statistics we're looking for on our Grant Requirements page on our website: http://www.maddiesfund.org/grant-requirements.htm.  Let me know if you have any further questions!  Feel free to call our office any time:  925.310.5450.  Cheers, Kelly Clardy

Kelly, Thank you so much for your timely response.
This resolves an issue our board has been wrestling with for several months.
After seeing the two forms, I just had to think the Animal Matrix form is better organized.
    Thank you again.
