    Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to all of this so bare with me please!! I have been in the animal welfare industry for 10 years. I recently received a promotion of Lead Adoption Counselor, and by recently I mean this week! My main responsibilities are going to be answering questions from my co workers, helping my manager out and fielding concerns from clients and my co workers and running a morning huddle to let the adoption counselors know what is going on that day. I guess I am reaching out because I am looking for some advice from other people who have received promotions on how to keep friendships but yet keep some sort of line of respect open? My other question is I am very open to talking with people about their issues and trying to help them work through things, but do I also get a say in when I can send things to my manager? Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated as this is a little new for me and I am wicked excited to start this new chapter and I want to do it the best I can!

    Thanks!

Asking for help is always a good start. With regard to forwarding things to your manager, ask your manager. Setting boundries with people can be done by being kind and direct..."I'm not in a position to do that for you. Please ask ......" Ask for help as each situation arises. Make sure your manager understands your need to do that. It's a good thing for someone in a new position to want...and your manager should respect that.
