  • 1.  Newly adopted cat regurgitates

We adopted Pippa three days ago. She was  spayed four days before that. She has adjusted fine with water intake, sleep, Love, play and litter box. She ate and digested fine the first 24 hours. We have not changed the food from what she was receiving at the shelter. The last 24 hours she eats a little then regurgitates it before it is digested. Twice. Is this part of the adjustment period, possibly, or should we be worried? She did clean herself a lot the first day since the cone from the spay, could it be a hair ball? Thoughts?

Hi!  It is difficult to determine what may be going on with your new baby.  It could be that she did some 'extra grooming' which caused her stomach issues, or it could be something else.  I suggest that you contact the vet or center that did the spay & see if they will see her.  Or, if you have chosen a vet, go ahead & get her in for her first wellness visit.  The reason I suggested she see a vet is that if she has a fever it could mean she has a bacterial infection or virus, which is not likely, but better safe than sorry.  If her behavior hasn't really changed (she's not lethargic or inactive), she is probably fine, but if it was me, I'd call the vet just to be sure!

    1. I would suggest that you also contact the rescue group that adopted her to you first. May may suggest that you also see the vet but they could possibly pay the vet bill if there is a problem with your kitten. Good luck.

It could possibly be nerves. If she's eating and then puking, you might want to get her a slow feeder. Hope she feels better!
