Here is a question to rescues and shelters without a vet on staff: Do you do in-house quick tests (f.e. HW test, FIV/FelV test) yourself? If so, how/where do you purchase the tests?
Out shelter does IDEXX SNAP tests, you can order off their website.
https://www.idexx.com/en/veterinary/snap-tests/snap-feline-triple-test/

We use Patterson, we have a vet give his license on our account application, and we're able to order all meds and tests.
Depending on your state law, you might not be able to run this type of testing without veterinary supervision. You should check your state practice act to see if this can be done independent of a veterinarian.
Idexx also has a non profit account you can set up (to MY knowledge living in MA anyone can test the animals or give vaccines - the only thing is RABIES vax are supposed to be given by or under vet supervision) but the rest of the test kits we buy are even half what the for profits pay to buy them.... I do believe you might need a vets signature / license number? can't remember
You don’t need to have a vet on staff to have a vet of record. All your medications, vaccines and lab tests will be ordered under the vet of records license. We use the witness combo FELV/FIV tests for cats and the witness heart worm for dogs. Both purchased through Patterson.
