Can you help get a shelter started with managed intake?

  • 1.  Can you help get a shelter started with managed intake?

    Posted 02-06-2018 08:11 PM

    Hi there:

We have a relatively high-volume municipal shelter which we've just started working with, and they're ready to roll with managed intake, but wanted to connect with other municipal shelter directors and leadership to get into some of the nitty-gritty. If you think you might be able to spend some time with them on the phone or over email, that would be great! You don't need to be an "expert" (nobody is!), and sharing the "good" as well as the...."not so good" is great. Feel free to respond to this post or message me directly.

    Thanks so much

Reach out to Shelly Simmons of Greenville County Animal Care Services. They're doing a managed intake system.@ShellyinGreenvilleSC

    Hi Mike,

You can certainly provide my contact information if you think it would be of use. I am more than happy to share what we have done so far.

    Mike,

I'm happy to have that conversation by phone, email, etc. I also have a power point that Charleston Animal Society and Greenville Animal Care did recently together for a training conference that I can share.  It talks about surrender prevention, surrender by appointment, managing intake hours (public stray drop-offs and animal control drop offs), and more.

    Hi Shelley:

Thank you! I'll connect you with the shelter director. I'd love to see the power point. Let me know if you'd ever be interested in recording it (maybe you already have?). Sounds like it would be a great addition to our resource toolbox!

Hi Shelley! I would love to learn about how you guys are doing your manged intakes. Our shelter is considering it as an improvement to our intake system, especially in busy summer months. Would you be able to share that powerpoint?

If you can send me your information (name, email, etc.) I'll be happy to share the file.  It need some updating on the data as we've made even more impressive strides in the last 6 months or so since it was put together-- but you will definitely garner lots of information and data from it!

    Hi Shelley,

Would you be able to share this training powerpoint with me via email? I am the Safety Net Resource Coordinator at Nashville Humane and our program's emphasis - in partnership with our admissions department - is intake diversion via community engagement and provision of resources. I'd also love to connect via phone if possible. My email is alexandra@nashvillehumane.org
