Hi All - 

I want to get started with our discussions but I am still waiting for key members to join.  Sinece time is awasting I thought i would throw out a couple of ideas:

1 - We should start with a simple use case that would enable us to agree on integraiton principles (protocols, architecture, ect.) and i suggest we should start with transporting animals (transfer between shelters).  As part of this we should also decide on unique identifiers and if any information should be made persistent outside the shekter systems, e.g. store chip numbers with Michelson.

2 - Once we have the basics dowen we can expand with other use cases, e.g. rehoming and lost-and-found

3 - Eventually we should enter the hard cases such as exchangin medical records

Even more basic, I think we need to start with the data elements we want to move and their definitions. We don't have to make every shelter use these fields and definitions but software companies can develop a methodology to map it into and out of their systems. 

I think we also need to have that architectural discussion.  Are we using a hub or API model.  As discussed with Lars and David yesterday, we can combine this with the aggregation and dissemination of lost and found data and reduce cost to build both but that implies a hub model.  API might be easiest but not sure most effective.  THoughts?

I am not sure if I communicated this well at the meeting but the plan at Pethealth is that we will expand our proprietary PetPoint Transfer Network (PPTN) to include organizations using Chameleon. Pethealth would continue to host and manage it on our clients behalf. We would then look to make it commercially available to non PetPoint/Chameleon organizations, likely via APIs and/or Portal.  

PetheaIth will definitely be involving both PetPoint and Chameleon clients in the expansion/redesign of the PPTN. The opportunity to widen the conversation is awesome and supports our goal of making sure we meet the needs of all those that will ultimately use it. With that said, I want to make sure everyone understands our plan is to keep the PPTN proprietary.  

ShelterBuddy are going down the API route with transferring animals between our customers, we went with this approach so it could be opened up to be used by other shelter management software to transfer pets.

Hi Steve - As a start could you post the spec you use for intra-PetPoint transfers?  Maybe that will give us an idea about which fields to consider?
